A Hard Water Treatment Case Study: Before and After
It can be extremely difficult, even impossible, to get the results you want with lawns and gardens using bore water. Fortunately, Hydrosmart has an environmentally friendly water conditioning solution that requires no chemicals, filters or maintenance. Here, we have a look at why bore water can benefit from hard water treatment and the difference it can make.
Hard Water Systems
Water that has a high mineral content, usually anywhere between 120 and 180 ppm of minerals is considered hard water. Represented in milligrams per litre, anything below 60mg/l is soft water while anything above is considered moderately hard up to very hard at around 200mg/l. Calcium and magnesium are the most common minerals found in hard water.
Water falling as rain is soft water as it hasn’t been exposed to minerals. However, bore water has passed through rocks and substrates, upping its mineral content and leading to it being considered hard water. This can have many negative effects in the home and in certain industries, leading to the need for water conditioning.
Before and After Hard Water Conditioner
Among the negative impacts of hard water is limescale build-up in plumbing and appliances within your home or commercial property. On the farm, crop yields may become under threat due to scale within pipework and crusting of the soil. Similar may be said in other industries such as mining and viticulture, to name just a few. All of these require an effective hard water conditioner in order to avoid water wastage, ecological degradation and higher costs.
In the case of Dean Coffison in Townsville, the lawns and gardens needed the help of a trusted water softening equipment supplier. Using hard bore water, he said no matter what he tried, his lawns refused to green up. That was prior to getting a Hydrosmart unit to treat his bore water back in July 2020. Upon getting in touch with him just over a year later in October of 2021, Dean was adamant that it was, “The best thing I ever bought!”.
