A farmer has found that with the use of Hydrosmart hard water systems provided faster flowering and higher growth of Lucerne crops with bore water of 4,500 ppm TDS. Previously evident salt rings under the pivot path seem to have disappeared. Upon soil inspection, a screwdriver test confirmed a significant increase in percolation and opening up of soil beds. Prior to water conditioning, this farmer’s soil was almost impenetrable. Chemical compacting and soil tightening is now a problem of the past now that Hydrosmart water conditioning is being utilised: dissolving locked up chemicals and fertilisers within the soil structure.
Birdwood South Australia Crop Yield
During a summer season, a grower in Birdwood conducted an experiment where he utilised Hydrosmart treated water on a portion of Lucerne crop, and un-treated water on the other portion. Crop treated with Hydrosmart technology using water at 2,500 ppm TDS showed a twenty five percent increase in crop yield by the end of the summer season, as well as increased strength and growth within the Lucerne crop.
Rapid Results at the End of Irrigation Season
A third farmer had fitted his Hydrosmart water conditioning system nearing the end of irrigation season, which resulted in a rapid surge in crop health, growth and flowering, such results he had not seen before. Another problem faced by this farmer was calcium build-up around the irrigation circle using water of 3,000 ppm TDS but, with Hydrosmart treated water, these salts quickly dissolved and became significantly less frequent. The farmer was quick to continue using Hydrosmart for his irrigation needs.
Formerly, stock water pipes had frequently built up with scale. Two Hydrosmart hard water treatment units fitted to tanks and troughs provided significant scale removal, with the famer being able to observe the scale come away from his troughs and pipes.
