COMPARISON TO REVERSE OSMOSIS
NO WASTE
While reverse osmosis consumes 2 to 4 times the water actually used, Hydrosmart delivers all your water, making all of it useful for domestic, agricultural, industrial or mining uses. The extra water you save by not having a reject stream, affects the longevity of your water supply, future proofing your property against drought and hard times. You don’t generate a salty reject-water stream to dispose of either.
NO VOLUME LIMITATION
The fundamental principle and mode of operation used in reverse osmosis is that water forced through a fine pore membrane is freed of impurities. However this process comes with a drawback, as water volumes and pressures are limited to the slow drip drip of water exiting the membrane. By comparison Hydrosmart water conditioning technology allows water to flow freely through a supplied section of pipe that fits right in to your existing pipework. There is no pressure drop, and your operation need not change fundamentally.
LOWER UP-FRONT COST
The cost of owning a Hydrosmart, per volume of water treated is at least 50% below that of owning a commercial or industrial reverse osmosis unit. Even for use at home, the costs of the two technology are favourably comparable, and when water volumes are considered as well, supply of Hydrosmart treated water is by far a lower cost per volume.
EXTREMELY LOW RUNNING COST
The cost of running a Hydrosmart water conditioner is lower than the cost of running a lightbulb. The unit comes with a warranty on parts, and draws 5 to 10 Watts of power. Most users are able to connect the unit to mains, at the same outlet as their existing pump attaches to. Others choose the solar option. This compares very favourably to reverse osmosis which draws high power loads though a required high pressure pump.
NO MAINTENANCE
Once installed, the Hydrosmart runs without maintenance requirements. Lights on the unit display the status of the computerised pulse generator. The unit is splash-proof, and is constructed of class 12 PVC, galvanised steel, and heatproof ABS plastic enclosure (IP 65). Maintenance is therefore zero, while maintenance of a comparable reverse osmosis unit requires frequent purchase of expensive membranes.
