Roxby Downs Golf Club has upgraded their Recycled Water treatment system and have included two Hydrosmart units in the system.
1. A H110EO Hydromaster to suit DN110mm HDPE main line with flow rate of 20 l/sec. This is fitted on the supply line from our sewerage treatment lagoons to the irrigation storage dam.
2. A H355EO Hydromaster to suit DN355mm HDPE main line with flow rate of 80 l/sec. This is fitted on the irrigation main line for our Golf Course irrigation system.
The Hydrosmart units were applied to help stop algae build-up in the sewerage treatment lagoons, plus to help with the grass growth on the golf course, to stop scale build-up in the irrigation pipe work and salinity concerns for the golf course.
Roxby Downs Golf Club is an 18 Hole 5,683m Par 72 Golf Course in Roxby Downs, South Australia, one of only few courses north-west of Adelaide with grass greens.
The Front Nine features 5 Par 4’s, 2 Par 5’s and 2 Par 3’s and the Back Nine features 3 Par 4’s, 3 Par 5’s and 3 Par 3’s.
In recent times, after its reconfiguration and new watering system, as well as tireless work from Green-keepers and volunteers, the Roxby Downs course is starting to transform in to a desert paradise.
The couch greens are healthier and faster than in previous times, fairways are greener with greater grass coverage and all tee blocks are grassed, thanks to Hydrosmart being used on the Recycled Water treatment.
If you’ve played the course before, the local rule of preferred lies on fairways (including use of a grass mat) is still in place, however grass coverage on fairways has improved greatly over the past year.
The course becomes very challenging if you venture off the fairway, as the desert rough can be very unforgiving, and as such, the course has no sand bunkers, although in the dunes you may sometimes find yourself with a similar lie!
